Lure Coursing

Lure coursing is a sport for dogs that involves chasing a mechanically operated lure. Competition is usually limited to dogs of purebred sighthound breeds. – Wikipedia
If you own a Sighthound you probably know of its great prey drive. Lure coursing can be a great way for your dog to let off some steam with other dogs.
Dogs Best Suited for Lure Coursing
- Breed: Sighthounds such as Irish Wolfhounds, Pharaoh Hounds, and other dogs of the Sighthound type. Some organizations allow mixed breeds to enter for fun.
- Age: 12 months or older – older for larger breeds
- Size: Small – Large, depending on breed
- Training: Must be able to behave off leash around other dogs, speed work. Often no special training to chase the mechanical lure is needed with sighthounds.
