Entering a human race or Fun Run with your dog
by Liza on Nov 26th, 2010
Entering a human running race with a dog (or dogs) can be a bit of a controvercial topic. We may love our dogs to death, but in a human race a dog can get in the way of other runners, causing frustrations and even accidents. Some people think running a race with a dog is no different from running it with a kid or a pram. Others think dogs should not be allowed on the course in human races. Here are some things you should keep in mind when cons...Read More » Tags

Can you jog with a *insert dog breed here*
by Liza on Nov 23rd, 2010
I've been getting lots of visits from people looking for search terms like "Can you jog with a Rottweiler", or "Can you jog with a chihuahua", etc. If you already have a dog and are considering jogging with him/her In my opinion, no breed is completely "un-joggable". If you’re going to run with your dog, you’ll need to invest in a pair of good running shoes. In fact, running shoes will likely be your biggest expense when you’re starting to run. You can seriously mess up your...Read More » Tags

Running With a Loose Lead – Is it Really Important?
by Liza on Apr 9th, 2010
When I see people running with their dogs, the dogs are often straining against their leads ahead of their owners. This looks very uncomfortable to me, but some of the runners I see are actually looking quite happy and not inconvenienced by the pulling at all. I've always recommended that people teach their dog to run beside them on a loose lead for safety and comfort reasons, but is this really the best way to go? If someone's happy running with...Read More » Tags
